Leaking Shower Taps Repaired at Burpengary Rental Property

A tenant reported that the shower taps continued to drip even when fully turned off. Continuous leaking taps waste water, increase water bills, and can eventually damage tap seats, wall linings and surrounding fixtures if left unrepaired.

After isolating the water supply, the existing tap handles and trim were removed to access the shower tap bodies. The worn internal components were replaced and the tap seats inspected before the taps were reassembled with new chrome dress plates and handles.

Once completed, the water supply was restored and both hot and cold taps were pressure tested to confirm they operated smoothly and shut off completely without any leaks.

Moisture & Mould Observations

While attending the property, moisture staining and mould growth were noted on the bathroom ceilings.

The bathrooms currently rely on natural ventilation only, allowing steam to remain trapped after showering. Over time this creates high humidity levels that encourage mould growth and condensation.

To reduce ongoing moisture problems, we recommended installing ceiling-mounted extractor fans ducted to the outside of the building. Proper bathroom ventilation significantly reduces humidity, helping prevent mould growth, paint deterioration and long-term moisture damage. Good ventilation and prompt removal of excess moisture are widely recommended for mould prevention.

Customer Outcome

The leaking shower taps now operate correctly and shut off completely, eliminating water wastage and improving usability. The property owner was also informed of the moisture issues affecting the bathrooms and advised that installing extractor fans would help control humidity, minimise condensation and reduce future mould growth.
